Dexter Pittman is an American professional basketball player with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League on assignment from the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association.

Played four seasons at the University of Texas appearing in 134 career games (59 starts) and averaged 6.6 points (.623 FG%, .601 FT%), 4.0 rebounds and 12.2 minutes…set the UT record for career field goal percentage and owns two of the top three single-season marks in school history…finished his career ranked eighth on the Longhorns’ all-time blocked shots list…was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection (first team in 2007-08 and second team in 2008-09)…earned the team’s Most Improved Player Award as a freshman and shared it in his junior season…as a senior in 2009-10, started all 34 games and averaged 10.4 points (.654 FG%, .556 FT%), 5.9 rebounds, 1.85 blocks and 19.1 minutes…set the UT single-season record for field goal percentage his senior year…also led the team in blocks, finished second in rebounds and third in points and field goals made…as a junior in 2008-09, appeared in all 35 games (24 starts) and averaged 10.1 points (.616 FG%, .691 FT%), 8.0 rebounds and 16.6 minutes…led the Longhorns in field goal percentage, finished second in rebounds, blocks and free throws made and third in points and field goals made…as a sophomore in 2007-08, appeared in 36 games (one start) and averaged 2.8 points (.559 FG%, .561 FT%), 2.4 rebounds and 6.8 minutes…finished tied for third on the team in blocks…as a freshman in 2006-07, appeared in 29 games and averaged 2.6 points (.604 FG%, .471 FT%), 1.8 rebounds and 5.3 minutes.

Get Fit with Big Pitt, is a national health initiative that encourages people to come together and help youth fight obesity. Pittman battled weight issues his entire life before coming to The University of Texas. He has lost over 100 pounds since the end of his senior year in high school and has dropped his body fat percentage by nearly 28 points. A former 402-pounder, Pittman struggled to keep his self-esteem up because of cruel teasing he suffered as a child. Now, after going through vigorous workouts and adapting admirable eating habits, Pittman weighs 290 pounds is able to complete multiple workouts with teammates and has slimmed his waistline by at least eight inches.
