First of two seventh-round picks (236th overall). Fourth player drafted out of Arizona State and first since Solomon Bates in 2003. Second defensive end drafted this year.
COLLEGE:
Started all 50 games of his ASU career, the most starts by any player in school history. Departed school ranked third in Sun Devil history with 31.0 career sacks, behind only Terrell Suggs (44.0) and Shante Carver (41.0). Finished in the top three in sacks in the Pacific- 10 Conference as a sophomore and junior. Totaled 136 tackles (85 solo), 45.0 tackles for loss and 10 forced fumbles in his four seasons at ASU.
RS SENIOR: Started all 12 games, the fourth con secutive season in which he started every game. Finished with 23 tackles (13 solo), 6.0 tack les for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one interception on the season. Was the only Sun Devil to earn first team All-Pacific-10 Con- ference honors, the third straight season he received all-conference recognition. Served as a team captain, along with linebacker Mike Nixon and offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao.
RS JUNIOR: Started all 12 games at defensive end. Led the team and fin- ished third in the Pac-10 with 11.0 sacks, collect- ed 40 tackles (25 solo), a team-high 15.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup on the season. Was an Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 selection and was one of two Sun Devils to earn first-team all-conference honors from PhilSteele.com. Earned team's Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman award for the second straight season at the year-end banquet.
RS SOPHOMORE: Started all 13 games and led team with 10.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss. Finished the season with 33 tackles, three forced fumbles and one pass breakup. Earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors.Named the team's Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman at the year-end banquet.
RS FRESHMAN: Started all 13 games at defensive end as a redshirt freshman. Earned honorable mention freshman All-America and Pac-10 All-Freshman and hon- ors by The Sporting News. Was presented the team's Bill Kajikawa Sun Devil Award, given to the team's top freshman player. Led ASU in sacks (6.0) and tackles-for-loss (10.5). Posted the most sacks by a Sun Devil freshman sinceTerrell Suggs' 10.0 sacks in 2000.Totaled 40 tackles (26 solo), leading all Sun Devil defensive linemen and is the most by an ASU freshman since for- mer freshman All-American Jason Shivers in 2001.
PERSONAL:
Attended Thunderbird High School (Phoenix). All-region selection by PrepStar Magazine.Two-time first-team all-state honoree (as a junior and senior) and was an All- Arizona selection by the Arizona Republic. Named Super All-State 2004 on defense by Phoenix Metro Football Magazine and won the Curley Culp Award, presented by the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame to the state's best defensive lineman. Collected over 120 tackles and six quarter- back sacks as a senior . Three-time letter- man and captain of the football team as a senior. Also lettered three times in track and field and wrestling and captained each team as a senior. Was the state of Arizona 4A wrestling champion at 215 pounds as a junior and senior.
