David Hawthorne (a.k.a. Heater) is an American football linebacker who is currently with the Seattle Seahawks. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at TCU. His all-action, physical displays led to fellow Seahawks linebacker, Lofa Tatupu, to give him the nickname, 'Heater'.

Signed by Seattle as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 27, 2008.

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

* Burst on the scene after Lofa Tatupu was injured for the year (pec) in Week 6, 2009. Led the team with 116 tackles (93 solo) and tied for team-lead with three interceptions.
* In his first start vs. Chicago (9/27/09), he tied for the third-best tackle performance in Seahawks history with 16 (15 solo), along with one interception. Posted his first-career sacks with 2.0 at Dallas (11/1/09) and set career-high with two picks vs. Detroit (11/8/09). In his 11 starts in 2009, he collected 105 stops (84 solo).
* Played in 14 games his rookie season, plac- ing fourth on the team with 12 special teams tackles.

COLLEGE:

Made 38 career starts as a Frog, including all but three contests over the last three seasons. He totaled 186 tackles at TCU. Playing as a graduate student in the 2007 cam- paign, he finished second on the team with 84 tackles while placing third with 5.0 sacks. He nearly doubled his previous career high of 43 stops in 2006.

PERSONAL:

Recorded 142 tackles as a senior at Corsicana High, with two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and scored three defensive touchdowns. Lettered three times in football and twice in basketball. Earned his school's Head Hunter Award on the gridiron and was named Mr. Defense in basket- ball. Majored in liberal arts.
