◊ Finished his career at the University of Michigan with 196 total tackles, four sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
◊ Second team All-American selection as a senior in 2006 by the AP and Sports Illustrated…Semifinalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker…Shared the Bo Schembechler team MVP award with tailback Mike Hart.
◊ Two-year starter at Ottawa Hills (MI) HS, where he recorded 295 total tackles and 16 sacks, while rushing for 734 yards and 15 touchdowns as a fullback.
◊ Set school records for most solo tackles in a season (114) and career (225) as a senior, and most tackles (158) in a season as a junior.
◊ Competed in track and field as a junior.

OFF THE FIELD

◊ General Studies major at Michigan.
◊ Embodied the NFL’s commitment to commmunity service by supporting programs benefiting the children and youth of New York City at the 13th Annual Gridiron Gala in 2008.
◊ Participated in the Newark Star Ledger Junior Reporter program in 2007, which motivates participation in classes with dozens of hands-on activities.
◊ Former Jets linebackers coach Jim Herrmann helped recruit David to Michigan...He served as his defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2003-05 at Michigan and linebackers coach in 2007-08 with the Jets.
