David Buehler is an American football kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the University of Southern California (USC Trojans), where he was 2008 Kickoff Specialist Trophy Recipient of the College Football Performance Awards.

Used solely as a kickoff specialist and special teams player as a rookie in 2009, David Buehler is presented with the opportunity to become the Dallas Cowboys kicker of the present and future in 2010. Looking to add another dimension to the kicking game, the Cowboys added the renown kicking specialist with their third selection in the fifth round (172nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. Though the team already had two Pro Bowl kickers in punter Mat McBriar and kicker Nick Folk at the time, Buehler's attraction to the Cowboys special teams surfaced in his powerful kickoffs and rare athletic ability possessed by a kicker known to make the downfield tackles rarely seen at his position. Buehler rewarded the team with an NFL-leading and club single-season record 29 touchbacks in his first pro season. Drafting Buehler marked the second time in a three-year span that the Cowboys used a draft pick on a kicker, allowing him to join 2007 draftee Folk as the only two kickers selected by Dallas since the NFL Draft was shortened to seven rounds in 1994.
