Darryl Sharpton is an American football linebacker for the Houston Texans. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

Selected by the Houston Texans in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft...Signed by Texans on June 11, 2010.

COLLEGE:
Started 30 of 52 games at Miami, including 18 at middle linebacker, nine at strong-side and three at weak-side linebacker…recorded 255 tackles (154 solo) that included 2.5 sacks for minus 24 yards and 27.0 stops for losses totaling 75 yards…caused and recovered a fumble…deflected nine passes…fielded six short kickoffs for 40 yards and had a 73-yard interception return for a touchdown.

2009:
Played in all 13 games, starting the final 12 games at middle linebacker...led the team with a career-high 106 tackles (65 solo)… caused a fumble, deflected three passes and intercepted another for a 73-yard touchdown return…also fielded a pair of kickoffs for 22 yards (11.0 avg)… selected ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week in each of the Hurricanes’ final two regular season contests…recorded at least 10 tackles in five games.

2008:
Started nine games at strong-side linebacker, coming off the bench vs. Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and California (Emerald Bowl)…saw playing time on the weak-side and in the middle, finishing fourth on the team with 58 tackles (33 solo) that included 1.5 sacks for minus 14 yards and six stops for losses of 24 yards…recovered a fumble and broke up two passes…gained 18 yards on a trio of short kickoff returns.

2007:
A valuable fill-in at either weak-side linebacker, strong-side linebacker or middle linebacker…played in 11 games…ranked sixth on the team with 46 tackles (30 solo), adding one stop for a 12-yard loss…deflected a pass and fielded an onside kick for no return.

2006:
Named third-team Freshman All-American by The Sporting News and College Football News…selected to The Sporting News ACC All-Freshman team...one of eight UM players who were selected to the 2006 ACC Academic Football Team...played in 10 games, starting vs. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia and Boston College at middle linebacker...totaled 45 tackles (26 solo) with a 10-yard sack, five stops for losses of 18 yards and three pass deflections.

2005:
Played in the team’s first three games vs. Florida State, Clemson and Colorado before receiving a medical hardship.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Attended Coral Gables (Fla.) High School, playing football for head coach Joe Montoya…played both offense and defense throughout his career, and also returned kickoffs and blocked punts…as a senior in 2004, he finished with 96 tackles (three for loss), two interceptions and four blocked punts…selected to play in the Cali/Florida Bowl, but declined the invitation…as a junior, he recorded 110 tackles and one interception for a touchdown…ranked as the nation’s 28thbest outside linebacker prospect by Rivals.com and was chosen All-Dade County while ranking as the 10th-best prospect in Dade County by the Miami Herald…member of the Florida Times-Union Super 75 squad…was in his school’s International Baccalaureate Program.

Graduated with a degree in Finance…presently enrolled in post-graduate school…resides in Coral Gables, Fla.
