Darrel Young life and biography

Darrel Young is a versatile prospect who is in the mix at running back with the Redskins. He joined the Redskins as a linebacker prospect in 2009. He was a four-year starter at Villanova and earned All-CAA honors last season when he posted 73 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, two sacks and three passes defended. He has versatilty to play either linebacker or safety.

COLLEGE
* Was a four-year starter at Villanova and posted 244 tackles, including 19.5 for a loss, six sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and three blocked kicks
* Earned third-team All-CAA honors in 2008
* Played in all 11 games as a senior and recorded 73 tackles, including nine for a loss, two sacks and three passes defended
* Played in all 11 games as a junior and had 78 total tackles (second on team), four tackles for a loss, one interception and two pass break-ups
* Played in all 11 games as a sophomore and tallied 44 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and two blocked kicks
* Recorded 13 tackles, three sacks, two tackles for loss, a pass break-up and a blocked kick in his freshman campaign
* Blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown vs. Northeastern

* Earned three varsity letters in football and four in track and basketball at Amityville High School
* Was a two-time Team MVP and three-year captain, All-County and All-League player
