Campbell was a musician since childhood, having won contests sponsored by True Value Hardware at age 15 and again at 18. In the mid-2000s, he was the pianist in Tracy Byrd's road band, and in 2010, he released his first single, Family Man. It debuted at number 60 on the Hot Country Songs charts dated for the week ending August 14, 2010. Matt Bjorke of Roughstock rated the single four-and-a-half stars out of five, comparing it to Alan Jackson in sound and praising the songwriting. The song also received a positive review from Billboard reviewer Deborah Evans Price, who said that it had a "powerful message" and was a "thoughtful first performance".
Campbell has opened shows for Luke Bryan, and has released a five-song extended play to digital retailers. He will also release his first full length self-titled debut album .
