Clarence Goodson (born May 17, 1982, in Alexandria, Virginia) is an American soccer player, who currently plays defender for IK Start in Norway.

Playing his club football in the Norwegian league with IK Start has not hampered Goodson's World Cup ambitions as his fine form at club level was recognised by USA coach Bob Bradley with his inclusion in his final 23-man panel for South Africa.

A central defender who commands the aerial battles, he is also known for a handy ability of being in the right place at the right time to avert danger. Comfortable on the ball, Goodson's fine first touch stems from the fact that he started his career as a striker.

Previously signed to FC Dallas, his desire to play his football in Europe saw him take the slightly unconventional route by heading to Norway in 2008 and he will be hoping to make his mark in this World Cup, with one eye on a move to one of the more high-profile domestic leagues.

Goodson made his international debut in a friendly against Sweden on January 19, 2008. He was a member of the U.S. squad at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and scored in the semifinal against Honduras on July 23, 2009. On May 26th, 2010, Goodson was selected to be part of the 23 man roster for the American national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
