The Diva Search:

In 2004, over 8,000 women entered a contest to become the next WWE Diva. The final vote came down to Christy Hemme and Carmella DeCesare. Carmella was Miss April 2003 and the 2004 Playmate of the Year. Despite Carmella's prior fame, the fans voted Christy to be the Diva Search winner. As a result of her victory, Christy won $250,000 and a one-year contract with the WWE.

Over the past few years, a new WrestleMania tradition has seen a WWE Diva appear on the cover of Playboy shortly before the event. In 2005, Christy Hemme appeared on the cover and in a pictorial. At WrestleMania 21, Christy lost a match to WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus. After moving from RAW to SmackDown, she became an ally of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Animal and Heidenreich and was involved in their feud against MNM.

In December 2005, Christy was released from the WWE. Just a few months later, she began working for TNA. Her first major feud in TNA saw her battle against the Voodoo Kin Mafia that felt women had no place in wrestling. She managed several teams in this feud against VKM but finally won the war against them when Lance Hoyt turned against his friends.

Shortly after Lance Hoyt turned on the Voodoo Kin Mafia, Jimmy Rave started teaming with Lance. The team, known as the Rock n' Rave Infection, has the gimmick of playing air guitar in the ring with Guitar Hero guitars while Christy is the singer of the group. Lance Hoyt has since changed his name to Lance Rock. In late 2007, she broke away from the group and became a singles wrestler. In early 2008, she suffered a neck injury that required surgery.
