Chris Baker is an American football tight end for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State.

Signed by Seattle as a free agent March 15, 2010.

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
* Originally drafted by the NewYork Jets in the third round (88th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. Spent entire career with the Jets before signing with the New England Patriots before the 2009 season.
* Has played in 115 career games starting seven while totaling 159 career receptions, 1,746 yards and 14 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons.
* Matched or improved his receptions and yards totals in each of his first six seasons with the Jets.
* Made NFL debut on special teams against Kansas City (10/6/02) and notched first recep- tion, a 10-yarder in a victory at San Diego (11/3/02).
* In first-career start at Kansas City (9/11/05) posted a career high with seven catches and 124 yards with a touchdown. Later topped his career high with eight receptions at New England (12/16/07).
* Started the first eight games of the 2005 sea- son before a broken leg suffered versus San Diego (11/6) forced him to injured reserve.

COLLEGE:

Made 47 consecutive starts at Michigan State and boasted a string of 24 consecutive games with at least one reception. Played four seasons from 1998-2001 after red- shirting in 1997. Set school career records for a tight end with 133 receptions for 1,705 yards (12.8 avg.) and 13 touchdowns, topping the pre- vious mark of 107 catches by Mark Brammer (1976-79). As a senior in 2001, finished third on the team with 40 catches for 548 yards for four touchdowns. Caught 33 passes for 461 yards and two touchdowns in 2000. In 1999, finished second on the team in receptions (38) and third in receiving yards (391) and touchdown catches (4).

PERSONAL:

Saline (Mich.) High School, where he was an Associated Press first- team all-state selection in 1996. Selected to par- ticipate in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game in Spartan Stadium. Had 40 receptions for 989 yards (24.7 avg.) and 11 touchdowns as a senior. Also played basketball and twice led Saline's basketball team in scoring, averaging better than 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 1996-97. Helped the Hornets win back- to-back Southeastern Conference basketball titles as a junior and senior. Also lettered in track, winning the league shot put title as a jun-ior. As voted by his teammates, he received the 2006 Jets’ Ed Block Courage Award. Started his own travel agency in 2006. Majored in parks, recreation and tourism at Michigan State. Son, Chris Jr. was born in January 2007.
