Chauncey Davis life and biography

Chauncey Davis is an American football defensive end for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Florida State.

CAREER

Has seen extensive action on the defensive line in his first five NFL seasons, playing in all 79 games with 23 starts. Has totaled 172 tackles (124 solo), nine sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and four passes defensed in his career. Returned his first career fumble recovery 24 yards for a touchdown against the New York Jets on October 24, 2005.

Saw action in all 16 games with four starts and contributed with 25 tackles (20 solo), one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defensed. Recorded four tackles in a starting role at the New York Jets (12/20). Collected a season-high five tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss in the season finale at Tampa Bay (1/3)

COLLEGE

Totaled 40 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick in 24 games for Florida State. Converted to defensive end as a senior from the outside linebacker position. Named the team's most improved defensive end and outstanding player as a senior after posting 22 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 11 starts.

PERSONAL

First-team All-State Class 4A and All-America selection as a senior at Auburndale (FL) High School, rushing for 1,000 yards in addition to playing linebacker and defensive end. Has one son, Chauncey Antoine Davis, Jr., born on December 11, 2007.
