Bongani Khumalo (born 6 January 1987 in Manzini, Swaziland) is a South African soccer player who plays as a defender for Supersport United and South Africa.

Born in Swaziland, Khumalo moved to Pretoria with his parents when he was just two years old.

This second-string central defender brings tremendous leadership skills to the national team party, as well as his renowned resilience and ability as a man-marker. He is the skipper of 2009-10 ABSA Premiership champions SuperSport United, and he is in fine form heading into this World Cup.

Khumalo was born in Swaziland but moved to Pretoria with his parents at the age of two. His SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt is convinced he will play in Europe one day and a number of Dutch and French sides are said to be in the hunt.

"People should realise that Bongani is a player who has the quality to play in one of the top leagues in Europe," Hunt says. "He has matured so well in the last few years and I am so pleased that he has been given the chance to experience this World Cup in South Africa."
