Vijay Singh Deol popularly known as Bobby Deol, is an Indian film actor and son of Dharmendra and younger brother of Sunny Deol. When he was 7 years old he made a very brief appearance in the 1977 movie Dharam Veer where he played the younger version of his father's character.
He made his debut as a leading man in Rajkumar Santoshi directed Barsaat. The film was produced under his home banner ‘Vijayta Films’ for which he won a Film fare Best Debut Award. The movie was the sixth highest domestically grossing movie of the year 1995. Twinkle Khanna, daughter of famous actors Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna also made her debut in the movie.

After having no release in 1996, Deol returned with his sophomore release Gupt: The Hidden Truth, a murder mystery which released on July 4, 1997.The movie turned out to be one of the biggest hits of that year. His following film that year Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya did not do well commercially.

In 1998, Deol had two releases - Kareeb and Soldier. Kareeb, a romantic film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, flopped commercially. Whereas, the latter directed by Abbas Burmawalla & Mustan Burmawalla was a big hit. Deol received acclaim for his role of a mysterious killer in the action thriller.
In 1999, he starred with his elder brother Sunny Deol for the first time in the latter's directorial debut Dillagi. The film flopped commercially.
In 2000, he had moderate success with action flicks Badal and Bichhoo. Whereas, Hum To Mohabbat Karega, a romantic-comedy between his two successful releases that year flopped miserably.

In the year 2003, Deol didn't have a single release. The year 2004 didn't bring much joy either. His three releases - Kismat, Bardaasht and Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo flopped.

Despite having four releases in the year 2005 - Jurm, Tango Charlie, Barsaat and Dosti: Friends Forever, Deol's dismal run continued and a hit film still eluded him. The first two releases flopped. Whereas, the other two did below average business at the domestic box office but did very good business overseas.

Deol had only one releases in 2006, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai, a long delayed film which had a very small release and flopped badly.
After no major release in the year 2006, Deol returned with Shakalaka Boom Boom, on April 6, 2007. The film flopped. Deol's next release of the year was Yash Raj Films' Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
