Bhavana is a South Indian actress who acts in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu movies. She belongs to the Buntcommunity of South india. Her nickname is Kaathi. Her parents are Pushpa and G.Balachandran, a cinematographer. She has an older brother, Jayadev.

She made her debut in Kamal's Nammal which won her critical acclaim and various honours, including the State award. In a career spanning eight years, she has appeared in over forty-five films, in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages, while winning one Filmfare and two Kerala State Film Awards.

Bhavana made her entry into cinema with Nammal (2002) which won her the Kerala State Special Jury Award when she was in eleventh grade. The year 2003 was good for Bhavana with more hits like Chronic Bachelor, C.I.D Moosa and Swapnakoodu.

Her very first film was a mega hit Malayalam movie- Kamal's 'Nammal' (2002). Though she acted in a supporting role in the film, she was noticed and aptly rewarded for her acting talent. In the film she portrayed the character 'Parimalam', a girl living in a slum, exceptionally well. After her first debut film she bagged many films like 'Chronic Bachelor'(2003), 'CID Moosa' (2003), 'Swapnakoodu' (2003), 'Ivar' (2003), 'Chathikkatha Chanthu' (2004), 'Chanthupottu' (2005), 'Naran'(2005) etc. and most of them were hits. Bhavana was a 11th class student when she got her break in films. The young actress is now getting a shower of offers from well known directors from Malayalam as well as the Tamil film Industry. She has a very pleasing demeanor and always wants to build up good kinship with the people around her. She aspires to become a good actress and to get very good recognition in days to come.

Bhavana's upcoming movies in 2009 are Sagar Alias Jackie and Robin Hood.
