Alyson Renae "Aly" Michalka, often credited as Aly, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and musician, presently starring as Marti Perkins in the CW television series Hellcats.

She was known for her roles as Keely Teslow in the Disney Channel original series Phil of the Future, Charlotte Barnes in the film Bandslam, Taylor Callum in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles, Rhiannon Abernathy in the Golden Globe-nominated teen film Easy A and as Tracy Morgan in the thriller , "The Roommate". She is also known as one-half of the musical duo 78violet (formerly Aly & AJ) with her sister Amanda Michalka.

It wasn’t until Alyson was 14 years old when she landed her first professional role as “Keely” on The Disney Channel’s now canceled series “Phil of the Future”. “Phil of the Future” became an instant hit in the Summer of 2004 when it premiered. The show was unfortunately canceled in late 2005 in their 2nd season. In January of 2005 Alyson starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Now You See It…”. She portrayed a girl named Allyson Miller who was a segment producer of a reality-type show in search of “real” magicians. During this time Alyson gained great popularity with Disney Channel viewers.

Aly & AJ: The Beginning
Alyson and her sister Amanda (formerly Aly & AJ, currently 78violet) made a music video for “Now You See It…”, which covered the classic song “Do You Believe In Magic”. That music video would be the first of several music videos that Aly & AJ recorded for Disney. In March of 2005 they wrote & recorded an original song called “No One” for the movie “Ice Princess” and with that released another music video.

In June of 2005 they covered the classic song “Walking On Sunshine” and made a music video of it for the “Herbie: Fully Loaded” Soundtrack. While all these music videos were being released Aly & AJ were hard at work on writing and recording their debut album. In August of 2005 they released their debut album “Into the Rush”, featuring 12 original tracks written by Aly & AJ, as well as 2 songs that they covered. The album has since when gold, and in January of 2006 their 1st offical music video & single “Rush” was released. Aly & AJ went on sold-out tour with “The Cheetah Girls” in late 2005. They also have performed on various shows & specials such as: The Menu, Hope Rocks, Live with Regis & Kelly, America’s Got Talent, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade & Walt Disney World’s Christmas Day Parade. During the Summer of 2006 the girls headlined their own nationwide sold out tour. They released a Deluxe Edition of their album “Into the Rush” feautring a new single called “Chemicals React” , and released a Christmas CD entitled “Acoustic Hearts of Winter” with the song “Greatest Time Of Year” that was used on the Santa Clause 3 Soundtrack. In 2007 they released their sophomore album entitled “Insomniatic”, with their first single “Potential Breakup Song”. The girls continued to tour, and took some time off to write a new album and pursue their acting desires.

Aly & AJ Acting Together!
In late Summer of 2005 Alyson shot the Disney Channel Original Movie “Cow Belles” with her sister Amanda, the movie premiered March 24th 2006. Alyson played the character of Taylor Callum, a wealthy teenage girl who is forced to work in the family business in order to learn responsibility, but when things go wrong it’s up to Taylor and her sister Courtney to save the day.

In November of 2005 Alyson and her sister Amanda shot a tv show pilot called “Haversham Hall” for the Disney Channel, it was unfortunately not picked up. However Aly & AJ filmed a movie for MTV called “Super Sweet 16: The Movie”, a movie version of the popular MTV show which aired on the channel in 2007. Aly & AJ also worked with MTV on a potential new series, but it was never picked up.

A New Era: 78violet
In July of 2009, Aly & AJ announced the change of their group name from “Aly & AJ” to “78violet”. In August 2009, “The Next Worst Thing” from 78violet’s upcoming album was played/previewed on KROQ radio. 78violet are hoping to release their first album under their name sometime in 2010.

Alyson decided that she wanted to do some movies sans Amanda. In August 2009, the movie “Bandslam” was released to theaters. Alyson portrayed the character Charlotte Banks, a complex character who’s in a band. In 2009, Alyson was also cast in the movies “Easy A” and “The Roommate”, both movies are due out in 2010.
