Alex Boone life and biography

Alex Boone (born May 4, 1987 in Lakewood, Ohio) is an offensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. A four-year starter for the Buckeyes (2005-08), Boone was a two-time All Big Ten selection (2nd team in 2007, 1st team in '08). In his four years, the Buckeyes were 41-8 and captured four Big Ten titles and played in four BCS Bowl appearances including back-to-back National Championship games (2006 & '07). Boone went undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, at least partially due to concerns about alcohol abuse.

A physical tackle, Alex Boone signed as a rookie free agent in 2009 and spent the season on the 49ers practice squad.

•A two-time All-Big Ten selection during his four-year career at Ohio State, played in 46 games (35 starts) since his freshman campaign in 2005. Started 22 games at LT for the Buckeyes, earning All-America honors as a senior.

PERSONAL:
•A two-time All-Ohio selection, was a three-year starter at St. Edward (OH) HS. Also competed in shot put and discus and played basketball for a year.
•His uncle, Ed, played football at Penn State.
•Enjoys hunting and playing golf.
